2016-wordstock_facebook_1200x250-ii-1200x250I am a huge fan of Portland’s Literary Arts.  Each year they sponsor Oregon Book Awards and Fellowships, Reader’s Seminars, Writers in the Schools (so cool) and Portland Arts and Lectures, which brings renowned authors to the largest literay audience in the United States right here in Portland, Oregon.

This Saturday, November 5, Arts and Lectures will once again sponsor Wordstock, a day-long literary extravaganza at venues around the South Park Blocks including the Portland Art Museum, First Congregational United Church of Christ, The Old Church, Oregon Historical Society, Northwest Film Center, and three of the stages of Portland’5: the Brunish Theatre, the Winningstad Theatre, and the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Wordstock features  author events for readers of all ages, writing workshops for youth and adults, pop-up readings and music performances, food carts, a beverage garden, and more.

Festival passes can be purchased online and include all-day admission to the Portland Art Museum and a $5 voucher valid at the scores of vendors at the Wordstock book fair. Attendees 17 and younger and anyone with a valid high school student ID attend the festival for FREE.
