The Roar by Emma Clayton

Ellie deftly maneuvers the stolen pod fighter in a desperate attempt to escape her captors and to be reunited with her family who, when she was kidnapped a year ago, was told that she drowned.

Mika’s parents are frustrated to the point of exhaustion. Their lives are hard. Very hard. They live crowded into a fold-down apartment in London, barely making enough to stay out of the squalid shadows below. Their daughter, Ellie, drowned a year ago and her twin, Mika, refuses to believe that she’s gone.

Mika and Ellie live in a future behind a wall: Solid concrete topped with high-voltage razor wire and guarded by a battalion of Ghengis Borgs, it was built to keep out the animals, because animals carry the plague. At least that’s what everyone’s been told. If you enjoyed Uglies, you’ll enjoy this book.
