The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Ok, first of all, this is a cliff hanger. I’m just going to get that out of the way up front. Don’t expect any closure or nice tidy happily-ever-afters. This is most definitely the first book in a series. Ok, now that that’s out of the way– there is lots of action and adventure here. Jason wakes up on a school bus with a best friend and a girlfriend he’s never seen before. He has no memory of his life or of who he is. It’s not long before the three, Jason, Leo and Piper, are attacked by monsters, whisked off to Camp Halfblood, learn they are demigods and become involved in their first quest. Besides fighting monsters they must fight their own insecurities and misgivings. I found some of their foes to be a little tiresome, but the main characters never disappoint. If you are a Riordan fan you’ll enjoy this book.
